Forward Jack Gunston and defender Jack Scrimshaw will both need to get through training this week to be available for selection ahead of Thursday night's clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

Gunston has missed the past two games with a foot injury, while Scrimshaw has been dealing with a knee issue.

Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge provided an update on the duo, as well as how Tom Barrass and James Blanck are progressing in their recoveries from hamstring injuries.

Jack Gunston (Foot) - Test

"The plan for Jack is that he'll fully train with the main group tonight. We're having a night session this week, which is a little different and a bit of a change-up. On Sunday, he did quite a volume of running, and the session prior to that, he did quite a bit of straight-line running and got to good speed. So Sunday was a consolidation of that. He had a kick of the footy and changed direction. Today we'll put him through all the drills, and we'll make a decision tonight on his availability."

Jack Scrimshaw (Knee) - Test

"Yeah, exactly the same story (as Gunston). Jack's progressed through a modified program and now will do some drills tonight, and we'll make a decision on his availability after training tonight.

Tom Barrass (Hamstring) - 1-2 weeks

"He's progressed really well, to the point where he's a strong chance to play next week against the Bulldogs. So that's just over a week away. He'll resume training with the main group next week, and he'll get a full week of training. There's still one or two hoops to get through, but it's looking really good for next week."

James Blanck (Hamstring) - 2 weeks

"He's progressing really well. He's got good strength, and he's running again symptom-free. We're still going to hold off till after the bye, just given the interruptions he's had this year. We want to make sure that once again we progress carefully and strategically, giving him the best chance to have a strong second half of the year and play his best football towards the end of this season."
