Hawthorn will be buoyed by the return of star midfielder Jaeger O'Meara in Round 9, as it sets its sights on a clash with North Melbourne in Tasmania this Saturday.

O'Meara has missed the last two matches due to hip soreness, but trained well this week and is ripe for a senior return.

"Jaeger is such an important player for us and his absence was noticeable across the last fortnight," Head of Football Rob McCartney said.

"His clearance work has been fantastic this year, and just as important is the leadership and support he imparts on his younger teammates."

Tim O'Brien will also return to the line up after missing last week's clash due to achilles soreness, while Emerson Jeka has been omitted.

The medical sub will be confirmed out of emergencies Dan Howe, Conor Nash, Damon Greaves and Tyler Brockman.

The Hawks will be hoping to continue their historic strong form down at UTAS Stadium, having most recently overcome a significant deficit to fight out a three-point win against the Crows on Tasmanian turf in Round 6.
