Ned Reeves has been rewarded following an impressive start to his AFL campaign, with the promising ruckman putting pen to paper on a two-year contract extension.
Reeves hasn’t missed a beat since making his debut a fortnight ago, averaging 29 hit-outs, 10 disposals and four tackles across his opening two AFL outings.
Head of Football Rob McCartney says the club is pleased to see the youngster going from strength to strength.
“Ned’s development, particularly over the last 12 months, has been impressive.
“His rapid rate of improvement is a testament to the hard work he has put in, both in terms of his strength work in the gym and his fitness and skills training out on the track.
“We’re pleased to have secured his services for a further two seasons and are looking forward to watching his continued development as he receives more exposure to senior football.”
Reeves joined the Hawks via the 2019 supplementary selection period (SSP). He spent his first two years at the club honing his ruck craft while playing with Box Hill (2019) and Hawthorn’s reserves (during the 2020 interstate hub period).
In early 2021, Reeves was considered one of the most in-form ruckman in the VFL competition, thus earning his senior call up to debut against Carlton in Round 10.
Standing at 210cm, Reeves is the tallest Hawthorn player in history.
