Hawthorn will be without electric forward Nick Watson for its Round 17 clash with Melbourne at UTAS Stadium on Saturday as he manages hamstring tightness.
Shortly after kicking his 100th career goal last Friday night against GWS, the 21-year-old was ruled out of the remainder of the contest with the minor hamstring issue.
Hawthorn High Performance Manager Peter Burge explained that the club decided to take a cautious approach with the star youngster, ruling him out of Saturday's match against the Demons.
Burge also provided updates on Jack Gunston, Matt Leray, Jack Scrimshaw, Conor Nash, Jarman Impey, Max Beattie and James Blanck, while confirming why Finn Maginness has been added to this week's injury list.
Jack Gunston - Foot (Test)
"He's feeling really good. Jack did the main training session today. He's had a good last week, did a number of conditioning sessions last week, and trained today. We've got a main training session on Thursday, which we expect him to train and complete, and all going well, we would make him available. But we do have one more session first. So let's get to that, and then we'll have a final decision."
Matt Leray - Concussion (Test)
"He's gone through the protocols and progressed as expected. We did take the extra week with him, given he's a first-year player and with an incident earlier in the year. He trained today fully. Expect him to fully train Thursday and be available this weekend."
Finn Maginness - Back (Test)
"Yeah, just late in the week, during training, he had flagged a sore back and was in a fair bit of discomfort during our main training session. He settled over the weekend, participated in some of training today, and we've still got a few hoops to get through there. We've got another session during the week, so we'll have another look at him on Thursday before we make a decision on the weekend."

Jack Scrimshaw - Knee (TBC)
"Yeah, just didn't come out of the weekend feeling as good as he did last week, and it's very frustrating for him, obviously, not able to progress into skills this week, which is what we were looking to do. So we'll just take a step back, and we'll reassess what we progress to. We'll step back into some running, but we need a number of back-to-back sessions where he pulls up well before he progresses into skills and then progresses into match play. So we'll get together as a medical group, discuss our next step with him this week, and then we'll come back with some more information next week."
Conor Nash - Neck (TBC)
"Yeah, a frustrating injury, and no real change from where we were last week. He's got a nerve-related issue related to a disc in his neck, and he doesn't have full strength at this stage. But what he can do, if you're out here watching training, you'll see him running around, doing non-contact skills, doing conditioning, participating in most things that don't involve contact. We're consulting with experts in different sports and other experts around the country. We're gathering more information, and it's really time that's needed with this, so at this stage, we're still working through it medically, but we can't progress into full contact just yet, and that'll stay that way until until we see some some progression in his strength and his symptoms."
Nick Watson - Hamstring (1 week)
"He had a tight hammy in the game, and during the second quarter, reported that to us, and was starting to inhibit his function. So we made the decision at halftime that he'd take no further part in the game, given how important he is to us, and looking at the future as well. He started running again today, but we have made the decision that he won't play this week. We want to make sure that we're doing the right thing by Nick, and he's going to go through a running program this week. Then we'll reassess after a number of sessions this week, and we'll come back early next week and give an update on how he's tracking."

Jarman Impey - Hamstring (1-2 weeks)
"He's going really well. He's made some great progress in the last couple of sessions, and today he ran at a good speed. I would expect he would resume training with the group next week. We've put him as one to two weeks, but at this stage, it's looking more likely next week. He's looking good."
Max Beattie - Ankle (1-2 weeks)
"He's made great strides in the last number of sessions that we've had, and today he ran, it looked very balanced and unimpeded. So we've listed him as one to two weeks, but it's looking more likely he'll resume football training next week. But given he's a new player in our program as well, we'll have a number of discussions this week about what that looks like, but he has got two more sessions this week and the way it's looking, it's progressing very well."
James Blanck - Hamstring (1-2 weeks)
"Yeah, similar to Jarman Impey, he's progressed really well. In fact, he ran at 90% speed today, unimpeded. So he's listed as one to two. We'll have a discussion at the end of this week based on how he's going, but next week, looks like he'll return to training and then we'll make a decision on his availability."
